Tutorial: Text on a path in Paint Shop Pro

Text on a path is a fun feature of Paint Shop Pro.

All it requires is a vector shape to follow.

I have this photo I want to frame with text

words1

First I choose shapes from the tools menu

words3

Then I drag the shape out where I want the words on my photo

words4a

I leave the stroke outline visible so I can see where the text will go but I turn off the fill color so I can still see the photo

Next I choose the text tool & hover the mouse over the shape outline until the A of the text tool becomes an A with a curve under it.insidecircle3 The curve indicates it is going to follow the shape outline. If there is no curve it will just follow a straight line.

Then I start typing my text

words6

It wraps around the corners automatically

words7

But it does not make allowances for the corners

words8

So you have to play with it a bit. You can add spaces to push the whole word around the corner

words9

You can backspaces to fit the words in better, or you can adjust the kerning of the font

words10

Once you have the words looking the way you want, you can hide the shape so only the words are still visible.

words11

Text will follow any vector shape, so the possibilities are endless!

Enjoy!
