Hybrid Tutorial – Subway Art

Good day, all!

If you have been following craft blogs, you probably have seen posters and wall hangings that is called Subway Art. They usually are words, done in different fonts,to create a “block” square.  Well, with Penny’s Word Jumbles you can have a similar sign that comes together very quickly!! It is so easy that you will want to make one for every season!

I used Penny’s latest release… St. Patrick’s Day Word Jumbles… and created this wall art for my living room…

Let’s get started, shall we?

1. Create a new layout, sized in how large you would like the finished product. I created mine at 8×10.

2. Select which jumbles you would like on your poster and bring them into your editing software. Then start pulling them onto your document, one at a time. I started with the Irish Eyes are smiling up on top (had to shrink it a bit to fit). Then I moved in May You live underneath. I resized that one a bit smaller.

3. Continue to build your page… I pulled in the longer ones and divided my page up in thirds… resizing as I go along…

4. Add the shorter jumbles… to fill in some of that white space… have I ever mentioned that white space makes me nervous? LOL!

5.  Once all the jumbles are in place…  I want to add some color.  I brought in the solid papers with Penny’s One Fine Day kit and clipped them to each of the jumbles.

6.  I added a black background…  hmm… do you see that, there are some “white” space left… well, it’s black… oh, you know what I mean. :)

7.  Add elements to fill up any open spaces… ahhh… that is better.

8. Now you can print and put it in a frame, or glue onto a card base for a quick and unique card… and that is it! Easy and quick, right?

If you make your own “subwayish” art with Penny’s Jumbles (she has many different packages to choose from in her store –  Word Jumbles) , I would LOVE to see them!! Just link them up to this post!

Until next time…
