Hybrid Tutorial – Paper Turkeys

Happy Tuesday and welcome to another tutorial… and this time it’s hybrid style!!

With Thanksgiving here in the U.S. coming up fast… I wanted to make a cute little turkeys to scatter around to help set the mood.  These turkeys would work great in assembly style and fun for the whole family to help out! *wink*

1. Print out your favorite Penny papers… I used some yummy ones from Gratitude by Penny Springmann.

2. Cut one 1 inch by 8 in strip and using and edger punch, create a decorated edge along the length of the strip.

3. Fold the decorated edge strip into an accordion fold, folding about 1/2 inch one way, flipping the paper over and fold another 1/2 inch.

4. Next we are going to work on the body… Punch out six 1 inch circles and fold each circle in half, pattern paper inside.

5.  Place adhesive to the outside half of a circle and attach to another folded circle.

6.  Attach all 6 circles.

7.  Now onto the head… see how quickly the turkey is coming together? Punch one 1 inch circle out of brown paper and fold in half, printed paper on the outside. Cut a little wave out the top of the circle to create a head.

8.  Cut a little triangle from the orange paper to create a beak and using a black market, create two eyes.

9.  Now it’s time to put them all together… using a strong adhesive (I used glue dots) and place on the inside of the decorated edged stript to create a fan shape.

10. Glue the bottom edge to a punched scalloped circle. (my scalloped circle punch measures 3 inches).

11. Next glue the “body” to the scalloped circle.

12.  Finally attach the head and any other decorate to create your cute turkey.

How cute is this turkey???  I can see so many uses for this… as a name plate for dinner, on a tag around a bottle of wine as a unique hostess gift, sitting on top of the coffee pot or in middle of the dessert platter… at attached to a top of a candy bar and given out as a party favor. The options are endless!!

Happy scrapping!
